Secure Data Deduplication

Our ability to do some serious data deduplication comes from how we handle the data. We chop up data into variable length blocks that we call DataDNA™, a key ingredient in our ‘secret sauce’.

  • Save big on storage–only DataDNA that has changed from one backup to the next gets transported to the Vault. DataDNA that is common gets deleted, whether that’s between users in one company or across companies in a multi-tenant environment. These two factors can lead to massive storage economies.
  • Data is always secure–AES encryption and transport occurs at the sub-file level ensuring that file names and metadata are always protected.
  • Save on resources–Datacastle’s efficient handling of data saves both network bandwidth and local system resources. We even keep a local DataDNA cache that can be used to repair or restore some files locally without having to go to the Datacastle RED Vault.
